I’m on vacation this week, visiting my family in Pennsylvania for my sister’s wedding. I’m really glad to be here. There’s nothing like family. E is enjoying meeting his great aunt and uncles. He will see even more extended family tomorrow at the wedding!
Here’s what I’ve been enjoying this week:
Part of a South Asian wedding is applying henna or mehndi to the bride’s hands and feet. Typically, female members of the bride’s family also have it applied. The picture above is the start of my sister’s henna. It’s incredibly beautiful and intricate. Sadly, E is going through some major separation anxiety and has been very clingy of late. Only Mom will do. Because of this I haven’t been able to get any henna 😦 It’s one of my favorite parts of a South Asian wedding and a great way to remember it. For weeks after my own wedding, I remember different moments of it every time I looked down at my hands.
Remember that beautiful turquoise necklace I posted about last week?? Well I didn’t buy that. I bought these Amrita Singh earrings instead. Aren’t they beautiful? I love them.Amrita Singh designs beautiful jewelry with a South Asian flare and I think they’re a great mix of East meets West. Something I recently read said that if you don’t have a large budget for clothing, then to spend on accessories instead. I am a firm believer in the power of accessories. They have the ability to make an outfit your own.
The title of this blog may be Lactivist in Louboutins, but I do not discriminate when it comes to gorgeous shoes to drool over. I’ve been really enjoying Jimmy Choo’s 2011 Pre Fall Collection. It’s a nice mix of tough and ladylike.
I saw this faux fur leopard print jacket on Piperlime. It’s a nice affordable alternative to the Banana Republic Mad Men leopard print trench that I have been obsessing about.
